A63/M62 junction 38 westbound exit slip road – lighting upgrades start 10 August

Re: A63/M62 junction 38 lighting upgrades

We’re getting in touch to let you know that we’ll be renewing steel lighting columns and upgrading roadside lighting in your area to LED.

LED lighting benefits road users and the environment alike. It uses less power, produces lower carbon emissions and lasts longer, as well as reducing the need for future maintenance.

  • Where? We will be carrying out these important improvements on the westbound exit slip road at the A63/M62 junction 38 (North Cave).
  • When? Weeknights (Monday-Friday) between 10 August and 14 September 2026. The work will be carried out between 8pm and 6am.

We will not be working on the Bank Holiday Monday (31 August).

How will this affect me?

To carry this out safely, we will need to close the A63/M62 westbound exit slip every weeknight while we work on this section.

Motorists wishing to exit the A63/M62 westbound at North Cave will be diverted on the M62 westbound to junction 37(Howden) before being directed back to the junction 38 eastbound exit.

We have written to residents and businesses close to the slip road to inform them of access arrangements while this work is ongoing.

We have done all we can to minimise disruption, however we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Please note, this work is weather dependent, and closure dates may change at short notice.
